Dublin protesters take to the streets against 'dangerous' Government: 'So out of touch!'

Protesters in Dublin have launched a scathing attack on the "dangerous" Government as they took to the streets to demonstrate against the cost of living crisis.

Speaking to GB News, protesters declared it "out of touch" and "corrupt" as they expressed their outrage at Prime Minister Micheál Martin and his Government.

As demonstrators gathered in the city centre, they told GB News reporter Dougie Beattie of their concerns over immigration, the cost of living and surging fuel costs.

One protester said: "We came here because of the crisis in our country, starting with the fuel crisis.

"So obviously, they put the fuel up on us, and the whole country is a wrecking room because we bring in so many immigrants."

The Dublin resident accused the Government of "sneaking in" immigrants before the implementation of the EU Migration and Asylum Pact in June.

She said: "We've been bringing them in all along through Covid, sneaking them and what you call it, but they were bringing them in long before the immigration pact, that just made it legal.

"They've been sneaking them all in under our noses and putting them in Ipas (International Protection Accommodation Services) centres when we didn't even know for a long, long time."

The protester admitted that she wasn't always so "politically aware" of the situation in Dublin, but has since "done her homework".

She told GB News: "Only in the last probably about three years have I become aware, I wouldn't have known anybody even in the Dáil or anything like that. Now I know everything about everything, I've done my homework.

"I would share stuff on social media myself, but not realising their corruption and how it starts how deep it went.

"Now, like with the TDs (Teachta Dála), with the people that work for the TDs, like it's from the rooter to the tooter, all of it."

Asked whether she believes the Government is working for them, she was quick to disagree: "No, it's not working for anybody, no Government in any country is working for anybody.

"Ireland to our Government is a corporation, it's a business, and that's the way that they look at it and it's like going back for years."

Asked how she would like to see the issue resolved, the protester made clear that she "doesn't want violence" on Dublin's streets.

She said: "Oh, God, I don't know, I really don't know. At this stage, everybody just keeps saying violence, but we don't want that."

Speaking to another protester, he declared that the people must "stand up" against a Government that is "out of touch".

He said: "I'm here because we need to stand up, we need to start making things better in this country.

"We have leaders and a Government so out of touch that it's not even funny anymore. It's not even ludicrous, it's dangerous."

A third protester said: "It's not our Government that's in charge. We all know the Irish Government is in charge of Europe, so there's no point in trying to pull on the heartstrings of the Government.

"They don't care, they're not in charge.
