Starcraft, Warcraft, Red Alert, Empire Earth, Supreme Commander, Dawn of War and many others rocked the early 2000, yet the genre seems to have died out completely? Best they could do is a remake of classic AOE. Meanwhile turn based games like Civ are still going.
