Richard Tice delivers devastating verdict on Andy Burnham’s plans for Britain: ‘A carnage of socialist chaos’

Richard Tice has delivered a scathing verdict on Andy Burnham’s plans for Britain, warning he was taking the country towards “carnage of socialist chaos”.

The Reform UK deputy leader tore into the Prime Minister’s Labour conference address, arguing it contained no solutions to the immediate crises battering the UK.

“This is nothing short of a failure to address the crises facing the country, whether it's on boats, energy prices, blackouts, or the price of petrol and diesel.

“This is a manyana prime minister who's just completely out of touch with the dramas that the country faces today and this winter,” he slammed.

To that end, the Reform business spokesman rejected praise that Mr Burnham’s address was “one of the great political speeches of all time”.

“Goodness me, you must be a hard socialist that describes it like that,” he exclaimed.

Tearing into the content of the speech, Mr Tice then addressed the future of the state pension, taxes and Britain's relationship with the European Union under Mr Burnham.

“He's basically going to deprive pensioners of the triple lock and increase your taxes very significantly”.

Mr Tice also accused Mr Burnham of wanting to take Britain “ever back to the failing Brussels, the failing EU” by discussing options for closer ties.

“He wants to create a sort of carnage of socialist chaos, with changes to the voting system,” he said.

In his speech, Mr Burnham said his reforms to pension protections would generate “significant savings” for the treasury.

When questioned on how Britain could afford to preserve the triple lock, Mr Tice said: “Politics is about choices”.

Laying out Reform’s position, Mr Tice said: “We don't think it's a good idea to send £88 million to Hamas in Gaza.

“We don't think that it's a good idea to pay ever more tens and tens of billions of pounds for foreign nationals to claim benefits and housing in the UK.”

“We just don't think it's a good idea to have mass, low-skilled immigration… We think net zero is a catastrophically stupid idea.

“If you cut all that out, you save tens and tens and tens and tens of billions of pounds,” the Reform deputy leader insisted.

He argued that those savings would allow the Government to maintain pension protections.

“And that way, yes, we can afford to look after our pensioners who've worked, they've saved, they've strived.”

Mr Tice claimed that the Prime Minister’s plans would take Britain back decades towards the economic difficulties seen under Labour leader Harold Wilson.

“As Burnham takes us back to the sort of blackout days of the 1970s… It was a really pretty bleak picture.”
