‘I don't consider myself far-right!’ Kevin Hollinrake pokes fun at Labour minister’s rural Britain warning

Kevin Hollinrake has mocked a Labour minister's claim that an idyllic view of the British countryside was a “far-right fantasy”.

Speaking to GB News, the Conservative Party Chair discussed Nature Minister Jenny Riddell-Carpenter’s comments that “warm ale, a black Labrador by your feet in a pub” was a “nostalgic vision of Britain that we don't want to have, and never really existed”.

Sharing her thoughts at the Labour Party conference, Ms Riddell-Carpenter said she was “kept up at night” with a fear that such an ideal would be weaponised by the so-called "far-right".

GB News presenter Ellie Costello asked Mr Hollinrake: “I just wanted to ask, do you enjoy the pub and a warm ale? And do you enjoy the company of a black Labrador? And if you do. Are you far-right and nostalgic for a part of Britain that never existed?”

“Apparently so!” The Tory peer responded, referencing an X post that showed him sitting in a country pub, armed with a pint and alongside his black Labrador.

“I don't consider myself far-right. Thank you,” he said with a chuckle.
