Ed Davey faces Lib Dem civil war as rebel resigns in bid to topple leader
Sir Ed Davey is at risk of facing a Liberal Democrat civil war after a frontbench MP resigned in a bid to topple the party leader.
Witney MP Charlie Maynard quit as a Treasury spokesman earlier today and is now asking Liberal Democrat MPs to back him in a no-confidence motion against Sir Ed.
Mr Maynard, who won Lord Cameron's former seat by 4,339 votes, rose to prominence following his campaign against Thames Water.
