Donald Trump taunts opponents after winning golf tournament: 'I have talent - they don't!'

President Donald Trump, now 80 years of age, has added two more titles to his ever-expanding collection of golf trophies.

The US president claimed victory in both the Senior and Super Senior Men's Club Championship at his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, over the weekend.

Trump reportedly carded a two-under-par 70 on the par-72 course to secure the double triumph. The result takes his self-reported tally of club championship wins to 43 across his portfolio of golf properties.

According to the Bedminster club's records, Trump previously captured both titles in 2023 and took the Senior Championship alone in 2024.

Footage of the octogenarian president collecting his trophies and posing beside the leaderboard has since circulated widely on social media.

The president wasted little time in taunting his fellow competitors. In a post on Truth Social, Trump shared footage of what he described as the decisive shot — a deft chip from roughly 40 to 50 yards that spun back to within three feet of the hole.

"I won with a score of 70, and am so honoured in that, unlike the rest of the field, I'm given very little time to practise, because I'm focused on many other things," he wrote. "It's called TALENT, and I have it, and they don't!"

No additional footage from the remainder of his round has been made public. Trump's boast that presidential responsibilities leave him scant opportunity to hone his game has become a familiar refrain, one he has deployed after previous club championship victories.

His reported score of 70 represents a modest dip from recent outings at the same event. Last year, the White House published a scorecard showing Trump had recorded a three-under 69, with an official winning margin of ten strokes — though that gap narrowed to a single shot once handicaps were applied. In 2023, he claimed to have fired a five-under 67.

The Bedminster course itself has had a colourful recent history. It had been due to stage the 2022 PGA Championship, but the tour withdrew the event in the aftermath of the January 6 Capitol attack. The course subsequently hosted several LIV Golf events, though the future of that arrangement remains uncertain following reports that Saudi Arabia has ceased funding the breakaway circuit.

Trump's golfing prowess has long attracted scrutiny, most notably from American sportswriter Rick Reilly, whose book Commander in Cheat catalogued alleged on-course dishonesty. "He cheats like a mafia accountant," Reilly told CNN in 2019. "He cheats crazy. He cheats whether you're watching or not."

Reilly has also offered a rather vivid assessment of the scale of the problem. "When it comes to cheating, he's an 11 on a scale of one to 10," he once remarked.

In his book, Reilly recounted that caddies at Winged Foot, where Trump holds membership, reportedly nicknamed him "Pelé" owing to his alleged habit of kicking errant balls back onto the fairway.

Trump has denied all accusations of dishonesty on the golf course.
