Angela Rayner hints at a more radical Labour as she takes swipe at Nigel Farage over donations: 'Just imagine what he'd do for £70million!'

Angela Rayner has outlined her vision for a more radical Labour Party as she launched a fresh attack on Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.

Speaking at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool, the Housing Secretary promised assembled delegates: "We are only just getting started."

“Two years in, we must be more impatient than ever to get on,” the Ashton-under-Lyne MP pledged.

Ms Rayner also took aim at Mr Farage and the record-breaking £72million donation his party received from crypto-billionaires Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne.

“Farage isn't standing up to the vested interests; he's falling at their feet,” the Housing Secretary said.

“Does anyone really think that Farage's crypto billionaire sugar daddies are handing in millions because he's standing up for the working people of Britain?

“Give me a break,” she exclaimed.

“If he will sing you a happy birthday song for 70 quid, just imagine what he'd do for 70 million.”

“He’s shown whose side he’s on, and I know it’s our job to show you that we’re on yours.

“People want to see a Labour Government that is on their side, but they also want us to get on with fixing the problem they face.

“That’s what drives me, and it’s why I’m standing up here in front of you today,” Ms Rayner declared.

Speaking about how she envisioned the Labour government going forward, the House Secretary said: “Our story is about graft, resilience and pride... We’re standing on the shoulders of giants.

“Those Labour governments knew that when people are respected and given real power, they take the lead in turning their communities around and in shaping Britain’s future.

“Our shared task now is to give our country hope again.

“My politics has always started with the belief that all people should be able to live a good life and live it well, to have the control to shape their own lives for themselves. It’s something I learnt in my time as a Unison union rep.”
