Andy Burnham to deliver ‘bigger, bolder change’ amid warnings incoming PM will ditch manifesto pledges, Labour MP says

Labour MP Melanie Ward has promised that Andy Burnham will deliver “bigger, bolder change” to Britain amid fears the incoming Prime Minister will ditch the party’s 2024 manifesto pledges.

Speaking to GB News, the Cowdenbeath & Kirkcaldy MP assured that the former Manchester Mayor would “stick to that Labour manifesto” but deliver his own priorities within it.

“Within the bounds of that manifesto, (Mr Burnham will) bring much bigger, bolder change to ordinary people across this country.

“People are crying out for that, and I think they've had enough of political jiggery pokery.

“They want us to get on with the job now, and that's what we're going to do,” she stressed.

Warnings have been issued that some of Mr Burnham’s ambitious targets in housing and devolution could be achieved without significant tax rises.

The incoming Prime Minister is already being tipped to ditch key policies of Sir Keir Starmer’s Government, including digital ID and blocking North Sea gas extraction.
