Andy Burnham may ‘not wear a suit’ on first appearance as Prime Minister reveals Christopher Hope
Andy Burnham could be set to forgo the formality of wearing a suit or using a lectern in his first appearance as Prime Minister, Christopher Hope has revealed.
The GB News' Political Editor suggested such a move could "set the tone for a more informal Government".
Despite a long career in politics, including Cabinet posts, Mr Burnham has been keen to stress his standing as a politician outside the Westminster mould.
As such, the former Manchester Mayor is often seen sporting a signature dark blue T-shirt combined with a suit jacket.
“He may turn up tomorrow in a T-shirt, give a speech. I'm told he may not even use a lectern,” Christopher said.
“He may not wear a suit, I'm told on both counts: ‘wait and see’. So this could set the tone for a more informal government,” he added.
