Andy Burnham leaves personal message at London 9/11 memorial as US Ambassador leads tributes on attack anniversary
Andy Burnham left a personal message and a wreath at the London 9/11 memorial gardens, marking 25 years since the terror attacks that shocked the world.
US Ambassador Warren Stephens and his wife, Harriet, led the commemorations in the gardens and were filmed laying a wreath.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attack, carried out by Islamist terrorists on behalf of Osama Bin Laden, including 67 Britons.
Leaving his own wreath at the memorial, the Prime Minister wrote: “In memory of those we lost and in defence of the values we share.
“Whilst we stand together for freedom and democracy, terror will never define us.
Speaking in the gardens, Mr and Mrs Stephens also spoke of the US-UK bond and the "outpouring of letters and flowers” they had received.
