Andy Burnham accused of 'bunking off for jolly abroad' after just two weeks in No10
Andy Burnham is enjoying a holiday for the rest of the week despite only taking office two weeks ago.
The New Prime Minister pushed ahead with his plans for a summer holiday with his family a fortnight after winning the keys to Downing Street.
He is said to be taking a break from his day-to-day duties, but No10 insists he will remain in contact with key officials while away.
It has not been revealed where Mr Burnham is travelling for his getaway.
The Prime Minister's official spokesman said: "The Government continues to operate as normal with the Prime Minister remaining in contact with officials, holding meetings and receiving regular updates on government business."
Louise Haigh, the first secretary of state, will be the most senior Government minister officially working this week.
The absence comes just days after an unprecedented migrant crisis hit Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta, where roughly 60,000 migrants crossed the border from Morocco.

Grooming gang rapists to be barred from early release scheme as PM vows: 'Public safety is my top priority!'
Andy Burnham has blocked grooming gang rapists from upcoming changes to prison sentences as part of a push to protect the public from dangerous criminals.
Mr Burnham, who GB News understands was stopped from going further amid fears of the prison system collapsing, also announced rapists will face tougher community supervision and a new GPS monitoring system.
The changes mean rape and child sexual offences will be added to the exclusions that were already in place for 18,000 offenders, including those who have been found by a court to be the most dangerous or anyone serving a life sentence.
However, the Prime Minister has come under fire after it was revealed two men involved in the 2018 killing of police officer Andrew Harper are still likely to be up for early release.
The Prime Minister said: "Keeping the public safe is my top priority. That’s why I asked for an urgent review of the prisoner release scheme.
"I fully understand the anger, anxiety and distress that’s been caused. I’ve heard that loud and clear."
